VELDEN SIXES 2006
SIX-A-SIDE Cricket Tournament
General Rules
1) There
will be 6 teams participating in the tournament. The 6 teams will be
divided into 2 equal strength groups of 3 teams each - Groups A &
B. The groups will be made in a fair manner by the tournament committee
and shall be binding on all teams.
2)
The tournament will have 2 Phases:
a) Qualifying Phase: Each team in each of the groups will play the other teams in their group once.
b)
Knock-Out Phase: 4 teams will qualify for this phase. The winners and
runners-up of each of the 2 groups (based on the points and run rate)
will qualify
3)
Knock-Out Phase will comprise of Semi-Finals and Finals, 5/6 place game
will be held.
4)
The games will be played under the normal rules of cricket .
5)
Each team will consist of six playing members, one Scorer and one substitute.
6)
The six-player team must be declared prior to the start of each game.
7) Teams
must be in attendance 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their
matches in order to complete the coin toss and be ready to take the
field immediately after the finish of the current game.
8)
Teams not in attendance at the scheduled start of play will have one
over deducted from their innings for each 5-minute delay.
9)
There will be ten (10) overs per side.
10) One player will be designated as
the wicketkeeper for each game. The wicketkeeper may not bowl. Every
other player is required to bowl.
11) Each game will consist of one
inning each side, and played at six (6) balls an over.
12) The coin toss for each game will
occur before the start of a game. An official will be assigned to
supervise each coin toss.
13) The innings will conclude when
either all the overs have been bowled or all six Batsmen have
been dismissed.
14)
Each game is expected to last for approximately 90 minutes (45min/team
15) NO Balls and WIDE
Balls
15.1) Short-pitched balls above the shoulder
height will be called no balls . The square leg umpire will call the no
ball in the event of a ball passing over the ‘batsman's' shoulder
height, when standing.
15.2) Full Tosses above the waist will be called no balls
15.3) A
wide ball will be called if the ball passes down the leg-side without
hitting the batsman. A wide ball on the offside will be called if it
passes beyond 30-inches of the off-stump.
15.4) Hitting a ‘wide' ball disqualifies it from being a Wide
16) Rules for Leg Byes and Byes shall apply.
17) In case of injury a substitute
fielder will be allowed. If the injured player did not bowl or
complete his over, then the substitute will be allowed to either bowl
or complete the over. Substitutes may only replace injured players
during a game. The wicket keeper may not replace an injured
player.
18)
Points System - Win 3 points, Tie 2 points, No-Result 1 point
19) If teams are
tied in the group standings, then the winners will be determined
as follows:
- Net Run-Rate
- Fewest wide balls bowled
- Toss of a coin

The following Tournament rules will be applied to the VELDEN SIXES
tournament in addition to the General Six-A-Side Rules
1)
Velden Cricket Club 91 is hosting the 2006 SIX-A-SIDE tournament.
2) The tournament dates are June 30th to July 2nd, 2006
3) The Six-A-Side
tournament will adhere to the General Six-A-Side Rules
and the
ICC Cricket Rules and regulations. Exceptions are indicated wherever
needed.
4) Each team can consist
of (register) up to ten (8) members. Any selected six (6) will play
each game.
5) It is a seasoned ball
tournament, and all players are expected to wear proper cricket attire.
White and gray shades are recommended. Short trousers will not be allowed.
6) All games will be played
at Velden Cricket Ground/
Latschach
7) The tournament will be
completed in TWO days. Play will be continuous during each day (between
8am and 8pm).
8) NO entry
fee for the tournament. Vouchers for Drinks and snacks during
games.
Dinner on Saturday evening.
9) Participating clubs are
expected to submit the list of players for the team(s) well in advance,
so that events for the day can be properly planned.
10) A Club can register only one team.
11) To the extent possible, all games
will be umpired by members of AUCUS (Official Umpires
of the Austrian Cricket Association).
12)
Officials will be objective and impartial in rendering decisions.
13) Cricket Balls are supplied by CCV 91
balls (adequate playing condition). One ball can be used for multiple
games, if in proper condition.
14)
In addition, the Organizers will have a pool of balls available.
15) The above rules will be adhered
to at all times throughout the tournament. All teams are expected
to cooperate fully (adhering to the rules, respecting the umpires
decision etc.) with the Organizers.
16) A referee other than the umpires
will be assigned to oversee each game. It will be the duty of the
referee to resolve any issue or dispute. His/Her decision is final (we
do not expect to have any disputes)
17) All teams are expected to be very
familiar with the rules of the game and of this specific competition,
as detailed in the this document Please also refer to
